Directory Submission Pack

Checklist of assets needed before submitting an attorney to any directory, ranking, or editorial list. Gather all items before starting outreach.

Required for Every Submission

Section titled “Required for Every Submission”
  • Attorney full legal name (as it appears on bar records)
  • Bar number(s) with state(s) and admission date(s)
  • Bar status (active, in good standing, disciplinary record: none)
  • Current firm name
  • Office address(es) (street, suite, city, state, zip)
  • Phone number (direct or firm main line)
  • Email (attorney or firm contact)
  • Practice areas (mapped to the directory’s category list, not generic)
  • Years practicing (calculated from bar admission date)
  • Law school (with graduation year)
  • Undergraduate (with degree and year, if directory asks)

Commonly Required

Section titled “Commonly Required”
  • Professional headshot (check directory specs — common: 400x400px minimum, JPG/PNG, solid background)
  • Attorney bio (150-300 words, no marketing language — pull from clients/[client]/bios/)
  • Firm description (2-3 sentences)
  • Website URL (firm or attorney bio page)

Strengthens Submission

Section titled “Strengthens Submission”
  • Recognitions and awards with year(s) and awarding body name
    • Only include verified recognitions from the dossier
    • Link to the awarding body’s page if possible
  • Review metrics (platform, rating, review count)
    • Distinguish firm-level vs. attorney-specific
  • Representative case types (categories only — e.g., “motor vehicle accidents, wrongful death”)
  • Case results (only if client has approved public disclosure with caption, court, year, outcome)
  • Federal court admissions (with supporting court filings if available)
  • Languages spoken
  • Professional memberships (with verification links or membership IDs)
  • Media mentions (publication name, date, URL)
  • Speaking engagements / CLE / panels (title, venue, date)
  • Publications (title, publication, date, URL)

Before Submitting

Section titled “Before Submitting”
  • All facts verified against the attorney’s dossier
  • No claims without source citations in the dossier
  • Bio reviewed and approved by client
  • Practice areas mapped to the specific directory’s categories (not copied from another submission)
  • Headshot meets the directory’s specifications
  • Contact info is current and correct
