Dossier QA Checklist
Run through this checklist before delivering or using any attorney research dossier.
Source Quality
Section titled “Source Quality”- Every factual claim has a cited source with URL
- At least one Tier 1 source (bar record, court filing, government page) was used
- No facts are sourced exclusively from the attorney’s own website without a note
- Conflicting information across sources is flagged (not silently resolved)
Confidence Labels
Section titled “Confidence Labels”- Every credential has a confidence label applied (Verified / Likely accurate / Not publicly verified / Not found / Conflicting / Needs client confirmation / Needs manual research)
- “Verified” is only used for Tier 1 sources or 2+ Tier 2 sources agreeing
- “Not found” is used (not left blank) when a signal was searched for and not located
Completeness
Section titled “Completeness”- Core credentials section is complete (bar admissions, education, years practicing, government roles, certifications, languages)
- Practice areas section distinguishes verified vs. possible vs. not found
- Trial and case experience section addresses jury count, bench count, and notable matters
- Recognitions section lists each award with year, source, and confidence
- Review signals section covers attorney-specific and firm-level separately
- Website bio audit is complete with recommended additions
- Directory submission readiness assessment is included
- Follow-up items are listed with specific questions (not just “needs confirmation”)
Accuracy
Section titled “Accuracy”- Years practicing is calculated from bar admission date, not self-reported
- Bar number matches across sources (firm bio, court filings, bar directory)
- No marketing language or superlatives in the dossier
- “Recent Case Wins” or similar firm marketing claims are not treated as verified without case identifiers
- All “Not found” items are explicitly listed (not omitted)
- Items needing client confirmation include a specific question to ask
- Items needing manual research specify what database or process is required
- The dossier clearly states what it cannot conclude (not just what it found)
